Adventure World

Here is the latest production of Zynga: Adventure World. This game is half way between arcade and adventure, and brings a fresh touch to the last Zynga games very focused on world building and neighborhood with friends to level up. In Adventure World, you slip into the shoes of an adventurer like Indiana Jones, and indeed it is your mentor in the adventure, and he will assign you missions to areas that he can't explore himself.

The tutorial is pretty short but sufficient to understand the game, and soon you will be in action in the middle of jungle. You will perform various exploration missions to find statuettes allowing you to enter a mysterious temple. So yes, there is in this game, a real scenario, where you can progress by choosing the order of your missions.

Each mission has a different environnement and generally very nice. The game's graphics are really neat and detailed, each small area is full of fun stuff that provide clues. For example expect to find snakes under a bush moving in the jungle or swamps. Also some areas of mission cards are covered with fog and reveal themselves to you when you approach.

The game mixes the exploration phases with fights against spiders or snakes, and solving small puzzles (simple ones) kind of memory game where you have to remind the order in which elements must be activated to trigger a mechanism or a release secret passage . Feel free to explore the different elements of decoration since you can sometimes gain access to secret areas that contain many objects or bonus. and shrubs with white flowers in the research mission of the crystal skulls should help you greatly.
An interesting innovation is emerging in the pick up of bonus : just now Move the mouse curor on bonuses to collect them. It's so comfortable that returning to the click to collect system in the other games, is a torture. I bet that this pick up system will become widespread in the coming games from Zynga and other publishers. Another notable fact of Adventure World, is the friends handling. They are still at the center of the game, but you can play without seeking too much help, which is also nice and let's face it quite different from recent Zynga productions like social city or empire and allies who tended to spam your friends with invitations.
Adventure World is for me the best Zynga game to date. Superb graphics, a real scenario,many missions and varied scenery, and a kind of late 80's adventure games feeling very nice. Definitely my favorite game of the last quarter 2011... so far.
